Tasting notes :

Gingerbread, cashew nuts and liquorice are followed by cloves and oak leaf. Then the world of leather enters the scene: old leather like a Chesterfield armchair and a horse saddle.

The liquorice we had on the nose returns, but more specifically the liquorice stick. Notes of tobacco and cigar box are clear, lusciously coated with ripe quince. We then move on to woody essences such as sandalwood and cedar.

Power and complexity come together in this finish, where the wood tannins, though discreet, are long and persistent. A delicate rancio brings a remarkable tasting to a close

THE ORIGINS OF RÉVÉLATION LOT.20

This Grande Champagne is known to originate from the Bouteville area. It was distilled in a traditional distillery equipped with two small pot stills—one with a capacity of 3 hectoliters and the other 5 hectoliters—which are considerably smaller than the standard stills used in modern production. Both stills were heated using coal, rather than wood. The maturation process began in vats before being transferred to oak casks of 150 and 200 liters.

During the Second World War, this cognac was safeguarded in the distiller’s private residence, hidden within a “secret room” ingeniously constructed behind false walls.

THE ORIGINS OF BACHE-GABRIELSEN COGNAC

Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a young man from Holmestrand, Norway, founded our cognac house in 1905 at the age of just 22. In the early years, he was joined by his partner Peter A. Rustad, who unfortunately passed away in 1916. Following Rustad’s death, Thomas assumed full control of the business.

Now, several generations later, the house remains proudly family-owned and is currently led by Thomas’s great-grandson, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen. From the beginning, our family’s mission has been — and continues to be — to carefully select, craft, and deliver the finest quality cognacs to our friends and customers around the world.
