Description
Tasting notes :
Colour : intense amber with copper highlights.
Nose : a silky yet persistent initial nose, accompanied by notes of mirabelle plum, candied orange and pear liqueur. After swirling, the ‘rancio’ develops on the nose, with notes of walnut, coffee and leather. We detect a few notes of liquorice, typical of the MENARD signature.
Palate : the attack is round and spicy, followed by a beautiful length with notes of almond, candied lemon and cocoa.
Finish : a long finish refines on the palate, enhanced by notes of black pepper and nutmeg.
Cru : Grande Champagne, 1st of the Cognac AOC. Clay-limestone terroir.
Grape variety : Ugni blanc.
Distillation on lees.
Ageing : 20 years in old Limousin oak barrels.
